INTERVIEW With AUTHOR OF KNIGHT FLIGHTS |
During a recording session of KNIGHT FLIGHTS, the author THELMA RENE' BERNARD took time to be interviewed by GBA . Here's what she had to say.
GBA: KNIGHT
FLIGHTS is a blend of words and music that starts out with "The Dragonslayer and the
Warrior." Why did you pick these characters to tell the story?
TRB:
"It is my belief that people are always in battles and struggles -- meaning having to
overcome obstacles of some kind. The two in my story seemed appropriate, especially since
I also believe we have existed before, are here now, and will exist again tomorrow."
GBA: Is
Mahloki the Master based upon history, or a legend?
TRB: "He came from a
picture in my mind -- something writers and artists in particular would understand. He
symbolizes, however, timeless wisdom -- such as wizards, magicians, and sages have often
represented."
GBA: What
is meant by "the Path"?
TRB:
"That's the journey of the soul, the 'travels' it is on through experiences while
making effort for consciousness."
GBA: It
also seems to apply to a person's life, or purpose.
TRB:
"Yes, that's true -- but I have the word capitalized, so I'm referring to it in the
higher sense -- such as found in the writings of Deepak Chopra, Wayne Dyer, Louise Hayes
-- and in the teachings of numerous metaphysical groups. (Smiling) Even in the movie 'The
Matrix', I just KNOW 'Path' was spelled with a capital 'P'!"
GBA: And
you see us as knights and warriors?
TRB:
(Nods 'yes') "Some of today's dragons may not be covered with scales, but
symbolically they still breathe fire -- and we have to strive to slay them -- such as the
dragon of fear."
GBA: That
then ties in with your "Cloak of Courage" where you say, "It's time to put
on your cloak of courage -- see it hanging there next to the door..."
TRB:
"Nearly all of us face grief or loss at some time -- or suffer through pain or have
limited resources or are physically challenged -- there are moments when our courage has
to be gathered around us, like a cloak, a coat -- so we place it on our shoulders to help
us do what we must to take the next step."
GBA: And
what did you have in mind when you say, "Many wonders
lie ahead"?
TRB:
"That line has several meanings to it. Life in itself is a wonder -- the continuation
of our existence is a wonder -- music reaching our ears through the technology of
wires, color, the human body coming into physical form from almost nothing, beauty and
love -- these are all wonders!"
GBA: You
have a lot to say about love -- friendship, romantic....
TRB:
(Laughing) "Astrologers would say I had little choice!"
GBA: Should
we then ask you what is your sign?
TRB:
(Still laughing) "No, I think not -- for the 'sign' on the wall says it's time now
for a break! Thanks to all for the interest and for this opportunity to
share........."
